Come ogni anno, è tornato il salone dell’auto più atteso da appassionati e addetti del settore: il Geneva International Motor Show è tra le vetrine più prestigiose al mondo, e nell’edizione 2018, la sua 88esima dal 1905, non sono mancate le anteprime più importanti. Presso il Palexpo, dall’8 al 18 Marzo, i visitatori hanno potuto ammirare i modelli che si vedranno presto sulle strade, ma anche gli avveniristici concept per i quali si dovrà attendere ancora qualche anno, ma che gettano le basi per un’automobile sempre più attenta all’ecosostenibilità. Proprio le auto green infatti, mai come ora sotto i riflettori, hanno avuto a Ginevra un ruolo da protagoniste, insieme alle novità supersportive e luxury.
BUSINESS CLASS
Se il mercato automobilistico degli ultimi anni segna il dominio di utilitarie e piccoli crossover, non si può dire che i brand presenti al Salone di Ginevra non siano stati attenti anche al pubblico più esigente: ammiraglie e SUV di lusso hanno avuto nel GIMS un’ottima passerella. Audi ha debuttato con l’ottava generazione della A6 che, rinnovata nel design, richiama la sorella maggiore A8 con linee più taglienti e un abitacolo che vanta la presenza di tre diversi display. Mercedes-Benz ha scelto Ginevra per il debutto della piccola ma futuristica Classe A, l’entry-level della Stella ora dotata di un sistema di Intelligenza Artificiale, chiamato MBUX. La casa tedesca ha anche lanciato l’ultima versione della storica Classe G, nella declinazione sportiva AMG. Peugeot ha presentato la 508, berlina dal look che ricorda le coupè e un design generale completamente rinnovato che preannuncia il family feeling dei prossimi modelli della casa. Gli svedesi di Volvo hanno dato nuova vita alla V60, donandole linee più muscolose, dettagli stilistici come i nuovi fari “Martello di Thor” e interni minimal ed elegantissimi. Dal Regno Unito, Land Rover ha portato in Svizzera un’edizione limitata della Range Rover: la SV Coupè, tributo 3 porte alla prima Range Rover della storia, con interni in pelle di altissima qualità e consolle in legno degna dei migliori panfili. Soli 999 esemplari al mondo.
COME STEVE MCQUEEN
Per chi ha le corse nel sangue, il Geneva International Motor Show rappresenta il primo appuntamento dell’anno dove potersi viziare in anteprima con le supercar più importanti.
Ferrari ha lanciato la versione speciale della 488, con un nome molto eloquente: Pista. L’ultima nata di Maranello ha tecnologie aerodinamiche derivate dalla F1 e un V8 biturbo da 720 CV, che le permette di superare i 340 km/h. I rivali di Sant’Agata Bolognese non sono stati da meno: Lamborghini ha portato la versione Spyder della Huracàn Performante, per chi vuole godersi i 640 CV del motore V10 con il vento fra i capelli. Porsche, con la nuova GT3 RS ha alzato ancora l’asticella, trasformandola nella 911 aspirata più potente di sempre, con un motore 6 cilindri da 520 CV che urla fino a 9000 giri. Per chi invece vuole divertirsi con famiglia al seguito, Mercedes-AMG presenta la GT-4 Door Coupè: l’ultima ammiraglia di Affalterbach ha quattro porte e quattro posti con potenze fino a 639 CV.
ANTEPRIME ELETTRIZZANTI
A Ginevra c’è ovviamente posto per gli ecologisti, con un’intera gamma di novità elettriche e ibride, immancabili per un futuro più green.
Jaguar ha presentato la I-Pace, crossover con linee da coupè e prima auto nella storia del brand completamente elettrica. Con anni di esperienza nell’ambito delle ibride sportive, Porsche debutta con una nuova concept full electric: la Mission E Cross Turismo è una offroad da 600 CV che preannuncia il lancio di una nuova 4 porte. Audi vede il domani con la forma di un SUV: la E-Tron Concept unisce la tradizione Quattro (come le ruote motrici) con il primo powertrain completamente elettrico della casa degli Anelli. Tra le sorprese del 2018 c’è anche Polestar: la divisione sportiva di Volvo diventa un brand a sè e sviluppa la 1, una gran turismo extralusso dotata di un motore plug-in hybrid da 600 CV.
Like every year, the most awaited motor show is back for enthusiasts and professionals: the Geneva International Motor Show is one of the most prestigious in the world, and in its 2018 edition, the 88th since 1905, has not missed the most important premieres. At the Geneva Palexpo, from March 8 to 18, visitors had the opportunity to admire the upcoming-on-the-streets models, but also some futuristic concepts, which already lay the foundation for tomorrow’s greener cars. Green cars are in the spotlight right now, and they actually had a major role in Geneva, together with the newest luxury cars and supercars.
BUSINESS CLASS
In the latest years citycars and little crossovers began to dominate the automotive market, but car brands in Geneva didn’t ignore at all the more demanding piece of the market: luxury sedans and SUVs found in 2018

Audi debuted with the 8th generation A6 with a renewed design, similar to the bigger A8 with sharper lines and three digital displays inside. Mercedes-Benz chose Geneva for the debut of the little but futuristic A Class, the entry-level of the Star has now an Artificial Intelligence system, called MBUX. The German brand also launched the latest version of the legendary G Class, in the AMG sports version. Peugeot presented the 508, a sedan with coupè look with a completely renewed designed, anticipating the next models’ family feeling. The Swedes from Volvo gave new life to the V60, giving it more muscular lines, stylish details such as the new ”Thor’s Hammer” headlights and a minimal and elegant interior. From UK, Land Rover brought to Switzerland a limited edition Range Rover: the SV Coupè, a three doors hommage to the first ever Range Rover, with high end leather interiors and a yacht-like wooden console. Only 999 of them in the world.

For people who don’t want to leave family at home, Mercedes-AMG presented the GT-4 Door Coupè: the latest sedan from Affalterbach has four doors and four seats, with engines up to 630 HP.
ELECTRIFYING PREMIERES
In Geneva there’s obviously a place for environmentalists, with a whole new range of electric and hybrid cars, unmissable for a greener future. Jaguar launched the I-Pace, a crossover with coupè lines, first fully electric Jaguar ever. With many years of experience with hybrid sportscars, Porsche debuted with a new full electric concept: the Mission E Cross Turismo is an offroad 590 HP car which anticipates the launch of a new sports sedan. For Audi the future is SUV shaped: the E-Tron Concept merges the Quattro AWD tradition with the first ever full electric powertrain. Truly surprising in the 2018 edition is Polestar: the former Volvo racing division became an indipendent brand and developed the 1, an extra-luxury gran turismo coupè with a plug-in hybrid 590 HP engine.
