All’IAA 2019 auto ibride, elettriche e ad idrogeno la fanno da padrone. Gli stand sono dominati da prototipi nemmeno troppo lontani. Per le strade del Messe, tra un padiglione e l’altro, utilitarie e crossover green girano per i test drive. Ma in questo mare di innovazione c’è un porto sicuro per gli appassionati dell’automobilismo. Nella Halle 4.0 si tiene IAA Heritage by Motorworld, un’esposizione dove collezionisti, venditori e petrolheads si incontrano con la loro passione comune: le auto classiche.
Collezioni fuori dal comune
Motorworld, realtà europea che pone al centro le auto che hanno fatto la storia, ha portato a Francoforte i migliori pezzi da collezione. Un’eredità, come da nome dell’evento, per far ammirare ai visitatori dell’IAA auto viste solo in foto prima d’ora, auto mai viste e, perchè no, auto che fanno tornare con la mente a tempi ormai andati. Una vera e propria culla, che racchiude modelli di ogni epoca, dal primo ventennio del secolo scorso alle youngtimer del nuovo millennio. Il padiglione di Motorworld rappresenta perfettamente la cultura automobilistica: un movimento che unisce da sempre gli appassionati di ogni marchio e scuderia sportiva. Il visitatore può spaziare dalle Porsche 550 Spyder del ’53 alle Carrera GT del 2003, dalle Mercedes Ali di Gabbiano della 1000 Miglia alle moderne SLR McLaren. E poi Alfa Romeo, limousine presidenziali del calibro della Mercedes Pullman, Ford e Maserati. Qui vengono accontentati i gusti di tutti, soprattutto i più ricercati. Uno stand particolare è dedicato a Brabus, l’elaboratore tedesco di auto della Stella che, mettendo mano alle classiche Mercedes-Benz, le riporta a nuova vita in condizioni pari a quando uscivano dalla fabbrica di Stoccarda.
Sul podio delle presenze eccellenti un’intera lineup di Bugatti fuori dal comune. Si va dalla recente Veyron del 2007, famosa record car da 1000 CV e 400 KM/H, alle inestimabili Type 57 SC del ’37 e Royale Type 41 del ’27. Una carrellata di questo tipo è visibile solo nelle più segrete collezioni private.
L’importanza massima, però, è data a tre auto in particolare, un trio inavvicinabile da Maranello: una Ferrari 365 GTB 4 Daytona in giallo, una 250 Testarossa Spyder Scaglietti rigorosamente Rosso Ferrari, e una 250 GT California Spyder SWB in nero, modello guidato da personaggi del calibro di Alain Delon. Chi scrive rimane semplicemente stregato da quest’ultima opera d’arte.
Non solo auto
In questo tripudio di classiche e rarità, Motorworld ha pensato anche al relax. In giro per la Halle 4.0 non è raro imbattersi in attrazioni musicali del gruppo tedesco Die Herr’n von der Tankstelle e di un musicista in cappello di paglia e gilet scuro che gira per i viali del padiglione con il suo organo a rullo, una sorta di one man band che intrattiene i curiosi. Tra le auto esposte uno stand di schuhe putzen, uno shoe shiner a disposizione dei visitatori che lucida le scarpe per beneficienza: i ricavati del suo lavoro sono devoluti alla Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Spazio anche allo shopping, con giacche vintage in pelle di alta qualità, ideali per gli amanti della velocità, o opere d’arte e pezzi d’arredamento con protagoniste gloriose auto da corsa dagli anni ’40 ai ’60.
Se infine, dopo questo meraviglioso percorso nella storia della cultura automobilistica, ci si vuole rifocillare, basta prendere posto su una poltrona in pelle che ricorda i sedili usurati delle auto racing, e sorseggiare un drink nella Lounge Motorworld, circondati da arredamento in legno e memorabilia a quattro ruote.
IAA Heritage by Motorworld: classic cars at the Frankfurt Motor Show
Hybrid, electric and hydrogen cars make the most part at the 2019 IAA. Stands are dominated by not-so-far concept cars. Green city cars and crossovers drive around the streets of Messe during test drives. In this lot of innovation, though, there’s a safe place for car enthusiasts. In Halle 4.0 there’s IAA Heritage by Motorworld, an exposition where collectors, sellers and petrolheads gather thanks to their common passion: classic cars.
Rare collectables
Motorworld, European community that puts historic cars under the spotlight, brought the best collectables pieces in Frankfurt. A true automotive heritage, to let the IAA visitors admire cars they just saw in photos, never seen cars and, why not, cars that remind them of the good old days. An exposition that contains models from every generation, from the first twenty years of the 20th century to the new millennium’s youngtimers. Motorworld’s pavillion perfectly represents the automotive culture: a movement that unites fans of every brand and racing team. The visitor can wander around ’53 Porsche 550 Spyder to 2003 Carrera GT, from 1000 Miglia’s Gullwing Mercedes to modern SLR McLarens. And then Alfa Romeos, presidential limousines such as the Mercedes Pullman, Fords and Maseratis. Every person can satisfy his taste, even the most refined ones. A particular stand is dedicated to Brabus, the German Star tuner which, putting hands on classic Mercedes-Benz, bring them back to life in the same conditions as when they got out of the Stuttgart factory.
On the excellent presences podium a whole, uncommon Bugatti lineup. They go from the recent 2007 Veyron, famous 1000 HP and 400 KM/H record car, to the inestimable ’37 Type 57 SC and ’27 Royale Type 41. You usually find such a lineup just in the most secret private collections.
Maximum importance, though, is given to three particular cars, a spectacular trio from Maranello: a Ferrari 365 GTB 4 Daytona in yellow, a 250 Testarossa Spyder Scaglietti in Ferrari Red of course, and a black 250 GT California Spyder SWB, car driven by people such as Alain Delon. They writer simply remains speechless in front of this last work of art.
Not just cars
In this mix of classic and rare cars, Motorworld thought about the relax, too. Is not rare to run into musical performances around the Halle 4.0, with the German group Die Herr’n von der Tankstelle and also with a musician with his straw hat and dark vest who walks around the stands with his harmonipan, a kind of a one man band that entertains the curious. Among the cars in display there’s schuhe putzen, a shoe shiner works for the visitors for charity purpose: revenues will go to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Space is given to shopping, too, with high quality vintage leather jackets, ideal for speed lovers, or works of art and furniture with ’40s and ’50s racing cars as characters.
In the end, if you need refreshments, all you have to do is take a seat in a leather armchair that reminds of racing worn out seats and sip a cocktail inside the Lounge Motorworld, surrounded by wooden furniture and four wheels memorabilia.
