Con grande arguzia ed eleganza, de Pisis sottolinea la complessità e capziosità del modo di vestire, indicando quali siano i capi d’abbigliamento cui gli uomini debbano prestare più attenzione e la maniera più appropriata di indossarli: dalle cravatte alle camicie, dalle scarpe ai cappelli, dalle spille ai fiori all’occhiello. Il tutto reso ancor più accattivante da una ricca iconografia di foto ed illustrazioni, la gran parte proveniente dalla rivista “Esquire” degli anni Trenta. G. Bruce Boyer è senza dubbio tra i principali autori ed esperti in materia di eleganza maschile del nostro secolo, ed il libro di cui se ne propone la lettura è un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per l’uomo elegante che voglia mettere ben in pratica le regole dell’arte del vestire e fare chiarezza sull’evoluzione dei tessuti, degli accessori e dei principali capi d’abbigliamento maschile. Scritto in modo elegante e con quel pizzico di ironia necessaria per affrontare l’argomento, questo libro di G. Bruce Broyer, offre al lettore un completo ed esaustivo decalogo degli elementi essenziali del guardaroba maschile, offrendo moltissimi spunti di riflessione e consigli da mettere in pratica nel quotidiano.

Questo splendido libro da tavolino è, inoltre, impreziosito da uno stupendo lavoro fotografico realizzato in collaborazione con il fotografo londinese Edward Lakeman.

Ultimo capolavoro della giornalista giapponese Yoshimi Hasegawa, questa volta dedicato alle eccellenze della sartoria italiana maschile e ad i suoi maggiori protagonisti, i quali, grazie alla loro maestria artigianale, hanno contribuito a definire e affermare lo stile italiano nel mondo. È un viaggio da nord a sud attraverso l’Italia sartoriale, che parte dalla celebre azienda di tessuti Made in Italy, Vitale Barberis Canonico, per poi passare in rassegna ventisette storiche sartorie italiane, tra cui Donnadio, Musella Dembech, Liverano & Liverano, Rubinacci, Attolini, A. Caraceni, Ciardi, e Crimi. Anche questo libro, come il precedente, è uno stupendo libro da tavolino, arricchito dalle fotografie dei grandi sarti italiani all’opera, realizzate dal fotografo inglese Luke Carby.

Si tratta di un piccolo vademecum dell’eleganza maschile, in cui l’autore, Ivano Comi – che è stato uno scrittore milanese con un senso dell’estetica senza pari – ci regala una visione inedita dell’eleganza maschile attraverso argutissime riflessioni e sentenze su ogni componente dell’abbigliamento classico maschile: dal blazer alla cravatta, dalla camicia alle scarpe, dagli orologi ai gemelli. È una sorta di diario in cui pensieri, aforismi e ricordi dell’autore si intervallano con armonia e nel loro insieme sono in grado di far luce su molti termini oggigiorno utilizzati ed abusati nell’ambito dell’eleganza maschile. Oltre che per i contenuti estremamente raffinati e singolari, il libro è altamente consigliato anche per gli esclusivi inserti illustrativi e la ricchissima bibliografia, all’interno della quale trovare numerosi riferimenti a testi, più o meno convenzionali, sull’eleganza classica. It is the latest masterpiece by the Japanese journalist Yoshimi Hasegawa, this time dedicated to the excellence of Italian men’s tailoring and to its main protagonists, who, thanks to their craftsmanship work, have helped to define and affirm the Italian style in the world. It is a journey from north to south through tailored Italy, which starts from the famous Made in Italy textile company, Vitale Barberis Canonico, and then reviews twenty-seven historic Italian tailorings, including Donnadio, Musella Dembech, Liverano & Liverano, Rubinacci, Attolini, A. Caraceni, Ciardi, and Pirozzi. Also this book, like the previous one, is a wonderful coffee table book, enriched by the photographs of the great Italian tailors at work, made by the English photographer Luke Carby.
