Il Morgana Lounge Bar, nasce nel 2001 nel cuore di Taormina “Perla del Mediterraneo” per vocazione dei due cugini Christian Sciglio e Guido Spinello. In un contesto dove storia e tradizione incontrano uno spirito internazionale dettato dal savoir – faire dei due founders. Il Luxury Morgana Lounge Bar, è luogo di ritrovo all’avanguardia, per i Siciliani ma soprattutto per il mondo del fashion, del design e dei cosiddetti vip, più in generale. Vera istituzione delle lunghe notti di Taormina. Gli allestimenti richiamano, di stagione in stagione, mondi differenti nel segno di un design che racconta storie: quelle autentiche, appassionate e talentuose degli artigiani siciliani, legate ogni volta dai sentimenti e dell’animo di Guido e Christian, che con i loro architetti e design, in mesi di work in progress riescono per la nuova stagione a connotare il Morgana con un mood ben preciso, sempre strabiliante e contemporaneo.
Christian e Guido, stesso sangue ma diversi tra loro, è proprio questa la chiave vincente che li ha portati al successo.
Il cocktail bar è il regno di Sciglio, barman riconosciuto e affermatissimo. La passione per il bar è nata grazie al padre, che negli anni 70’ fu il primo a portare il concept di american bar a Taormina. Passione che a volte non basta se devi partire da zero, infatti Christian ha dedicato la sua vita al lavoro, con tanti sacrifici, viaggi e studi, guidato da una fame di sapere e di rendere unica e personale ogni sua creazione nel bicchiere. I Cocktails sono uno dei punti di forza del Morgana Lounge Bar. Oltre ai grandi classici, ci sono gli “Original Morgana” in cui primeggiano i sapori prettamente siciliani, come gli agrumi, l’agave, la pala di fico d’india o il gelsomino.
Tra i cavalli di battaglia di Christian troviamo “La Malandrina” cocktail fatto con: Belvedere Vodka, St Germain, sciroppo al finocchietto fatto in casa e succo di lime, un drink con carattere ma soprattutto equilibrato.
A fare da sfondo alla postazione del bar centrale c’è un’immensa bottigliera, fatta di prodotti esclusivamente selezionati da Christian che vanno dai super-premium distillati, ai liquori di nicchia. La cura per i dettagli non è messa in secondo piano, basta pensare la qualità del ghiaccio o la selezione dei bicchieri, ma quello che più sorprende è trovare un team di giovani professionisti che seguono Christian da anni e lo vedono come il loro mentore, e fanno bene!
“Cerco sempre di essere me stesso, non ho mai pensato di assomigliare a qualcuno, negli anni mi sono reso conto che il mondo del bar sta subendo delle grandi evoluzioni, alcune condivise in pieno altre meno, quello che penso e che bisogna fare ma non strafare” dice Christian.
A guidarvi in questo mondo fatto di purezza, armonia e autenticità ci pensa Guido Spinello. Distinto come un vero e proprio Oste, Guido è l’altro volto del Morgana e pioniere della “dolce vita” siciliana.
Spinello è amante dei viaggi, durante i quali le sue esperienze diventano fonte di ispirazione con risultati che portano oggi il Morgana Lounge Bar ad essere un locale di tendenza e innovativo. Proprio lì nella sua terra, dove Guido insieme a Christian hanno deciso di investire tutte le loro forze, mettendo in piedi un locale oggi riconosciuto in tutto il mondo. Passion that sometimes is not enough if you have to start from scratch, in fact Christian has dedicated his life to work, with many sacrifices, travels and studies, guided by a hunger for knowledge and to make each of his creations unique and personal in the glass. Cocktails are one of the strengths of the Morgana Lounge Bar. In addition to the great classics, there are the “Original Morgana” in which the purely Sicilian flavors stand out, such as citrus fruits, agave, prickly pear cactus or jasmine.
Among Christian’s stron points we find “La Malandrina” cocktail made with: Belvedere Vodka, St Germain, homemade fennel syrup and lime juice, a drink with character but above all balanced.
In the background of the central bar there is a huge bottle display, made up of products exclusively selected by Christian ranging from super-premium spirits to niche liqueurs. The attention to detail is not overshadowed, just think about the quality of the ice or the selection of glasses, but what is more surprising is to find a team of young professionals who have been following Christian for years and see him as their mentor, and they’re right!
“I always try to be myself, I never thought of looking like someone, over the years I realized that the world of the bar is undergoing major developments, some fully shared others less, what I think and what I need to do but not overdo it” says Christian.
