Questo è quello che sono riusciti a fare Niels Holdorf e Benedikt Fries quando, nell’ottobre del 2012, decisero di fondare Shibumi con l’obiettivo di produrre cravatte ed altri accessori tipici del guardaroba maschile dal gusto raffinato e con una particolare attenzione alla qualità.

Shibumi è un concetto di estetica giapponese che tradotto significa raffinata eleganza e semplice bellezza senza troppa vistosità. Questo termine incarna perfettamente il concetto del classico maschile inteso da Niels e Benedikt: classico, ma non antiquato; semplice, ma non noioso.

Ad oggi Shibumi (che ha il suo quartier generale a Berlino) utilizza tessuti lavorati in Italia ed in Inghilterra mentre la produzione delle cravatte e delle pochette si divide tra Italia e Germania.

Insomma, un progetto giovane fatto da giovani che, continuando a seguire la strada della qualità, arriverà lontano.

Niels Holdorf and Benedikt Fries have founded Shibumi in October 2012 with the goal of producing tasteful ties and other classic accessories of unbeatable quality. They made their passion in their profession, because they have had a keen interest in classic menswear, high-quality workmanship and traditional sartorial techniques for years.

Shibumi is a japanese concept of aesthetics; roughly translated, it means refined elegance or simple beauty without flashiness. It perfectly embodies our understanding of classic menswear: classic, but not old-fashioned; simple, but not boring.

Their goal is a first-class product with traditional, hand-made details like hand-rolled edges, decorative stitches or seven-fold construction. Ties made this way have value and charm far beyond that of industrial, mass-made products.

The fabrics are woven in Italy and England; the ties are hand-sewn in a small manufacture in Italy.
