Occhi leggermente socchiusi o civettuoli spiccano sulla prua delle piccole imbarcazioni dei pescatori, dette luzzi, che dondolano sulle acque trasparenti con i loro scafi variopinti. Sono gli occhi di Osiride, decorazioni di buon auspicio che si trovavano già sulle barche dei greci e dei fenici e dalle quali sarete circondati se decidete di trascorrere una vacanza a Malta.
Un tempo erano dipinte a mano per allontanare le tempeste e scongiurare una pesca infruttuosa; 
oggi sono divenute il simbolo dell’isola di Malta (ogni quartiere ha una sua tonalità che contraddistingue le barche) e se ne trovano tantissime ormeggiate nel porticciolo di Marsaxlokk, il cui nome significa “porto di scirocco”. Così proprio gli occhi diventano predisposizione a guardare con meraviglia tutto ciò che s’incontra.

Eyes slightly squinted or flirtatious stand out on the bow of the small fishing boats, called luzzi, that swing on transparent waters with their colorful hulls. These eyes were once hand-painted to ward off storms and avoid unsuccessful fishing and today have become the symbol of the island of Malta (each district has its own tone that distinguishes the boats) and there are many moored in the port of Marsaxlokk, whose name means “port of sirocco”. In this way the eyes become predisposed to look at everything that is encountered with wonder.
